SportStop · Disclaimer
The fine print, in plain English
Read this before adding real player names or family details to a SportStop team page. It's short, written for a parent who isn't a lawyer, and reflects where the project actually is — not where we'd like it to be one day.
This is beta
SportStop is very much a work-in-progress. Things break. Things change. We have limited time and resources to respond to bugs or feature requests, especially during a school term when everyone involved has day jobs.
We genuinely welcome committed early users who want to help shape the product. The help page explains how the basics work; the Feedback link in the footer is open to anyone — coach or parent, signed in or not — to flag what's working, what isn't, and what would make the page genuinely useful for their team.
What you share is your responsibility
All information entered on a team page — player names, jersey numbers, scores, lineups, snacks roster, whatever — must be sanctioned by the participating parents. Coaches and recorders who enter data are agreeing to that on behalf of the parents they're communicating with.
We strongly recommend anonymised data — first names only, no surnames, no contact details, no photos of kids. The data needed to run a team page well is far less than parents are typically asked to share elsewhere; lean into that.
How we keep things private
Team pages are protected by:
- Unique URLs — the team's URL is the gate. We don't link to teams from search engines or a public directory unless the coach opts in. Parents who don't have the URL won't stumble across the page.
- Team passphrases — set by the coach, shared in the team WhatsApp. Anyone with the passphrase can record results, lineups, and attendance for that team — nobody else.
- Coach email accounts — for team admin (settings, members, fixtures), we require email-based sign-in with a one-time magic link. No password to remember, no password to leak.
No formal privacy policy yet
We don't have a formal privacy policy at this stage because all the content on a team page is provided by the team's own coaches and parents — SportStop doesn't collect or share data with third parties beyond what's needed to run the site (Supabase for storage, Resend for the few emails we send, Netlify for hosting). If you want to know exactly what's stored, ask the coach or contact us via the feedback form and we'll be transparent.
A team can be deleted on request — contact your team's coach or site admin and the team's data will be removed.
No monetisation
There's no monetisation at this stage. No subscription tier, no ads, no upsells, no data being sold. If that ever changes, we'd tell users with plenty of notice and the change wouldn't apply retroactively to teams already using SportStop.
Questions? Provide feedback using the link in the footer. SportStop is small enough that a real person reads everything.
